I have worked in Software and Technology for many years having graduated from Imperial College University, London with a BSc (Eng) Honours degree in Computer Science.

In that time I have followed the usual career path for a software engineer holding various roles in public bodies, startups (co-founding one) and commercial organisations. Starting as a developer, I progressed to a senior then principal engineer before becoming an architect. I have also done a few side gigs as a business analyst, data architect and technical consultant.

I used to work as a lead solutions architect at a global sports streaming platform serving millions of customers daily but I switched jobs recently. I am now Head of Architecture for a brilliant start up whose platform really makes a positive difference for the businesses that rely on it along with their millions of customers.

Why Airinformation.com?

Originally I intended to use the airinformation.com domain for a couple of aviation products that I wanted to develop. But those ideas were superceded by the general pace of change both in technology and aviation and the cost challenges of certifying new equipment for aircraft.

Since I had the domain name hanging around I figured I would re-use it to host this blog about technology and related interests instead.

What do you blog about?

In my free time, I work on my own software and hardware projects as a hobby. As a result I am always learning new skills, programming languages and about new technology and hardware. If I think some of these might be interesting I’ll try to document them here.

Both in my working day and on those personal projects I come across things that could or should be simpler but which often aren’t. Sometimes it’s just that things are confusingly or poorly documented. Where I encounter this, I will document the solutions I used to work around such issues.

Occasionally I come across other people’s projects that have helped me solve problems and here I can also give credit to them to say ‘thank you’ for their efforts.
